Planning For Your Next Dream Trip!

5 Ways to Get Prepared for 2021 Travel!

5 Ways to Prepare for Your Next Vacay:

1) Decide Where You Want to Go

Trying to figure out where to go next might be the hardest part, there are so many beautiful places in the world! For some inspiration try Girls Love Travel (GLT) facebook group, Pinterest, Conde Nast Traveler (on instagram, magazine and website), www.skyscanner.com , and countless others on Google and Instagram. Try to find a place you can afford after saving for 3 months, 6 months, a year or whenever you want to travel by. Or you could have fun and throw a dart at a map and go wherever it lands, or show up to an airport and get on the next flight wherever it's going if your the spontaneous type. Perhaps you don't want to travel far because of Covid or you are trying to save money for other goals. Here is a link to have an awesome staycation in your own city!

2) Get a Good Deal

Some places to get the best deals are on Groupon, they have different getaway deals in the US and around the world. These are great if you want a good deal a few months before you actually travel and some even include airfare, hotel, some meals, taxes, and some even a tour or airport shuttle to the hotel for under $500! Skyscanner, which I mentioned earlier, and Google Flights are great for last minute flights for cheap to pretty much anywhere. If you are one of the people with great credit card travel benefits then you can use those too for paying for the trip, especially when combined with other good deals it could even be free!

3) Plan Ahead

Start looking up things to do in the location you decided to go. Learn what the weather is like that time of the year. Find out unique food and drinks, as well as restaurants in that area you want to try, like mangosteen in Cambodia. Search for local historical monuments or museums, fortresses, and landmarks like the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Find beaches or mountains or deserts (depending where you go) that are well known or off the beaten path and come highly recommended. Search unique local activities like visiting a Boudin camp, seeing bellydancers and riding a camel in Dubai. Find out what local crafts or items are well known there and would make good souvenirs or gifts for loved ones, like leather goods, olive oil and wine from Italy.

4) Go Shopping

This is one of my favorite parts! I always end up going shopping before a trip to make sure I have everything I need or want for the trip. This usually includes new clothes (to match the location and for all the pics), shoes (flats, boots or flip flops depending on location), mini skincare products, mini hair products and other toiletries, buying an extra phone charger or adapter for that country, luggage(if needed), and snacks.

5) Packing

Packing for a trip is usually one of those last minute, I hate doing this but have to, kind of things. It doesn't have to be! Create (or google) a packing list for the type of location you are going, like a cruise packing list for example. Do laundry and wash everything you want to bring. Start with a bunch of stuff you think will be good and then edit it down to necessities and staple pieces in mostly neutral colors so you can mix and match. For example, on a 5 day Caribbean cruise you would bring 2 or 3 swimsuits, 2 sundresses or rompers, 1 formal dress (for the fancy dinner requirement), 2 or 3 shorts, 1 or 2 pairs of leggings/ pants, 2 skirts, 7 tops, 7 pairs of panties and bras, 1 light jacket/sweater, 2 flip flops (in case one pair breaks), 1 pair of flats, and maybe one pair of heels or sneakers(depends what kind of tours/activities you want to do on land). Personally, I only brings flip flops and flats to most warm places. Since its easy and cute flats can be dressed up or down and good quality ones can be walked in comfortably for long distances. This insures you have enough outfits to have options and can change everyday/night for warm tours during the day and fancier dinners and events at night without packing too much. Another tip to get double the amount of stuff in that carry on bag or suitcase is to roll all the clothes into tiny balls. You might not want to do that with a fancy dress so you can gently fold it on top, but for tees, shorts, skirts, panties, etc. that are cotton or cheaper materials you totally can and some fabrics don't even wrinkle which are great options while traveling.
